Cheval Place

When we became aware that Taylor Howes were moving to a new office/studio, we invited Karen Howes and her creative director, Sandra Drechsler, to our showroom and drew their attention to new products in our Contract furniture range. We also looked at a number of bespoke boardroom tables previously manufactured. In fact, the meeting tables we produced for this project were based on a previous Taylor Howes project – One Kensington Gardens.

The table we produced for One Kensington had a predominantly metallic base, created using PVD coated stainless steel sheets, with the timber frame made with a high gloss dark stain. For Cheval Place the design was tweaked and other elements such as the power and data ports were added. We worked closely with their design department to develop the new meeting tables.

The smaller meeting room  works really well, with the smaller scale table making it feel snug like, and perfect  for an informal catch-up.

The base of the Bing chairs used on this project were customised using our burnished bronze powdercoat to create a warmer and more inviting meeting room, and the choice of leather combined with the stiching detail all add to give  more of a residential feel.

The highlight of this project however, was creating the customised Dakota Jackson desk for Taylor Howes’s CEO Karen Howes. Karen picked out a grey figured sycamore and a champagne gold for the metal details. It was also decided that the desk top should be upholstered in leather. A removable return was also added to give a flexible working space.

Once the drawings had been signed off and approved the factory began production and sent us a few images of the piece during the production stages.

The actual building used to be an Aston Martin garage, and a wonderful chandelier now hangs where the car lift used to be, along with the names of people that contributed to the project.

The overall look and feel of Cheval Place is absolutely wonderful and we are pleased that we were able to contribute.
